I Create in the Face of F**k
CREATIVITY MANIFESTO | by. Kadie Kelly
This is a dispatch from the front of my own reckoning
with the world, and with myself.
In times like these, our creativity is not a luxury.
It’s a lifeline. A manifesto. A refusal.
I create because I must.
Because silence is not an option.
Because the world would have me shrink, and I refuse.
I create in the face of f**k.
F**k that would have me disappear. F**k that tells me I’m too much,
too tender,
too wild,
too inconvenient.
I take that f**k and shape it
spill it into pages,
pour it into piano keys,
let it ink the walls
of my imagination.
I create in the face of fascism.
In the face of fear.
And yes, in the face of “femininity” too,
the kind that’s been flattened, prettified, politicized.
I create not because it makes sense.
Not because it’s marketable.
But because it unbinds something.
Because I have to.
I create because I’m not done.
I’m not done feeling.
I’m not done changing.
I’m not done naming what’s been taken.
I find my feral-ism, my feminism, my inner fire,
in every act of making.
Sometimes, it sounds like a scream. Sometimes, like a lullaby.
Sometimes, like a whisper that outlasts the storm.
F**k-this-ism is alive in me.
If you’re creating through the chaos,
if you’re naming what hurts,
if you’re building a world inside your own
I see you.
Reply, share, forward this to someone else at the edge of their own fireline.
We are not alone in this.

Here are the lyrics to the chant in case
you want to learn it and chant to break through
any self-doubt in your own creative power:
I create
in the face of f**k
fascism
fear.
And I find
my feral-ism,
Feminism!
and inner fire
in every act
of creation!
More dispatches to come. Stay with me.
